Structural Excellence Powers Knox Private Hospital Expansion
In the 2011 expansion of Knox Private Hospital, Davis Naismith & McGovern played a key role as the structural and civil engineering consultants. Their scope included the design, documentation, and construction oversight of major structural elements—among these were a two‐level basement car park supported by a rock‐anchored retention system, and an in‐situ concrete banded slab floor system. They also designed and specified extensive use of precast concrete façade panels for the ward block extension, consulting suite expansion, and multi‐level carparking. This engineering work enabled the hospital to add 66 hospital beds, new consulting suites, and additional parking capacity, bringing the total bed count to over 250 and solidifying its position as the largest private hospital in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
